Mammoth Machines — Artist Portrait

The Challenge

David Knapp isn't just a tattoo artist — he builds his own machines, pushing the boundaries of his craft from the inside out. The challenge was capturing the depth of that dedication on film: the precision, the obsession, and the quiet artistry behind something most people never see. It needed to feel as considered as the work itself.

My Role

  • Co-directed and shot the film alongside Rachel Krauss, crafting a story that centered David's voice and let the work speak for itself
  • Shaped an intimate portrait of a craftsman who pushes the limits of his art by building the very tools he uses to make it
  • Delivered a film that gave David and Mammoth Machines a genuine, personal document of his process and passion
